How To Find My Miracle…

Who needs a miracle?

Yesterday that question was posed at my church and 70% of the congregation raised their hand. My wife and I were part of that number. So, who doesn’t require a miracle? I mean if when asked, 70% of approximately 300 answers in the affirmative, that tells me that you, the reader, have a 7 in 10 chance of wanting, if not needing a miracle.

So with that said, lets examine what constitutes a miracle. My online dictionary has the following definition:

Miracle: 1. an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause. 2. Such an effect or event manifesting or considered as a work of God.

Simply put, if we need a miracle, we require supernatural intervention. We will not find our way out of our present situation alone, or with natural help.

The terminal cancer patient, the marriage beyond repair, or the insurmountable financial debt/need are examples of day to day situations that call for a miracle.

Of my last several posts, most feature a miracle. As recorded in the Gospel of John, I followed the 7 miracles shared by the Apostle. From Cana to the raising of Lazarus, I wrote as if I were someone who had been there. I wanted to capture the realness of experiencing or witnessing a miracle while in Jesus’ presence. It was by no accident that yesterday I was exposed to this question. I presently need a miracle. Not one for my health, finances, or personal relationships, although I do need help in those areas, but the miracle I ask for is more complicated. The miracle I call for is about what I want to accomplish before I die.

You see, that is bigger than myself. It is bigger than any person I know, or organization which I am affiliated. To attain what I sense I must, will only materialize if God gets involved. So, similar to the miracles of Jesus in my previous posts, I expect my miracle moving forward.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. (John‬ ‭15:7‬‬)

How powerful is that? If I Continue in Christ’s presence and permit His Words to resonate in my character, I possess a blank check for whatever I ask of Him.

The only thing I must remember is the former will shape the later. His principles will determine the request. His presence will impact my motive and His wisdom will implement my actions. So in the end, the Miracle will be–me!

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬‬

If I shield myself from practices that are immoral or unethical, strive to live sinless, if my speech is not contemptuous or divisive, and I explore the Scriptures daily, every action I take will find success.

That, dear reader, is an offer I can’t refuse!

So, as I move forward with my life, I am searching for my miracle. I have no clue of how it will happen, or from where it will come. I just know if I follow Jesus, I will eventually find it.
