Why I Write Where I Pray…

I have a ritual in the morning. I stagger out of bed straight to the coffee pot. After years of repetition, making  coffee is the only thing I can accomplish at 5:00 in the morning. Well…sometimes at six or seven.

“My eyes are awake through the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:148‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

With my 1st cup I sit in that comfortable chair pictured above. I turn on some music as I wait for the caffeine to take affect.

Then I read. I read from my daily Bible plan with the intent of hearing God’s voice. That usually takes another cup or two. At some point the music, the scripture and the coffee start to penetrate the hibernation of my brain. Then I pick up my pen and pad and start to write.

I’m not writing beautiful poetry or the next great novel. No, I’m actually writing a letter to God. I’m writing what’s on my mind. I’m telling him about my victories and my defeats. Why I’m happy or sad. Where I’m confused or just where I need help. I tell him about discouragement and heartache, but also about joy and celebration. I’m writing to Jesus. This is how I Pray.

“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.” ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭45:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

From my devotional I transition to work mode. I take the same pen, with the same pad, sitting in the same chair, and I write to you…my reader. Now that’s convenient. No traffic, no carpool, just another trip or two to the coffee pot and I’m at work.

And I write… I write what has been stirred and ready to be expressed. I write about  pains and joy  and heartache. I want to touch you like God touched me. I want to speak to you with His voice. Mine is temporal and inferior; you hear it today and forget it tomorrow. His is eternal and can change our lives!

Though good advice lies deep within the heart, a person with understanding will draw it out.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭20:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

It’s easy for me to write about my personal experience, the ones where lessons could be learned. It’s easier for me to pray about them. The struggles and suffering where relief is desired. Where I cry,”Why Me!” or “how much longer…” I know that my delimmas are not unique. What I go through others do too. I want to have something to say that encourages, rather than complains.

I want to be able to tell you how God pulled me through. How He gave me comfort. How He was there when others were too busy.

One thing is certain to me, God knows what we are going through. He sees your struggle and your pain and he wants to bring you relief. I want to be part of that. I want this site to be a tool to reach the hurting and the lost. If that happens, everything else will be satisfied.

for the writing which is written in the king’s name, and sealed with the king’s ring, may no man reverse.” ‭‭Esther‬ ‭8:8‬ ‭ASV‬‬

There are many voices out there competing for air time. There is television and radio. Movies and internet. We go through information overload with Live Feeds and Social Media. It’s common to hear one thing on one channel and quite the opposite on another.

When Jesus puts His stamp of approval on an article or a post, it will stand against any rebuke. No attack or criticism will have any effect against His desired outcome.

…Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. ‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Today there is no better runner than the internet. It travels globally. I am amazed at the different countries this site reaches, but I want to reach more. Can you imagine what Paul could have done with a blog?

My best avenue to success is to be correct, to be right. I want to speak to the needs of God’s people. I want to reach those who God has marked to save. The time is perfect as are the tools. I just need the right voice.

And that’s why I pray where I write.
